Start With Why

What have you discovered about why you do what you do for a living?

When people ask you what you do, do you tell them why you do what you do?

Cause and effect in building your business is mightily at work so your cause matters.  If we don't have a strong cause then the effect of what we do might not be very strong either.  Instead of being energized, we will feel tired.  Instead of waking up happy to go to work, we'll drag out of bed dreading what we do for a living.

Why Knowing Your Why Matters

If we don’t really have a cause, a strong reason for what we do, then the effect of our work will be minimal and that's disheartening.  I know you know this but remember, our "why" is not a result.  Why we do what we do isn't to make money.  The result of money in the bank is wonderful so don't get me wrong.  Making money is good but it's not a strong enough reason to enjoy what we do.

If we think the reason we do what we do is to make a living for our family, or to pay the bills or to be able to take a vacation now and then without borrowing money, that's not really our "why."  What that means is that maybe we haven't ever discovered our why, our purpose, our cause worth fighting for...

Watching this TED Talk will help.  Even if you know your why, Simon Sinek's talk will inspire you to clarify and strengthen your cause so that the effect of what you do for a living will likewise increase.
